Published purpose
Through this 37-month systemic change project, Yukon Women in Trades and Technology (YWITT) will scale their Facilitating Leadership, Opportunity and Advocacy in Trades and Technology (FLOATT) project to advance women’s economic security and prosperity across the Yukon. It will scale to include workers of all genders and direct engagement with industry partners. It will address gaps of meaningful inclusion, recruitment, and retention of 2SLGBTQIA+ and women tradespeople in trades, especially those in leadership roles. To do so, the project will scale community involvement, deliver training, and foster the development of a leadership cohort. With the Supplemental funds and extension provided in early 2026, Yukon Women in Trades and Technology Association will increase the scope of leadership activities to support those navigating stagnant career advancement by preparing them with skills to advance growth opportunities within the skilled trades. This project will also enhance engagement through direct training to sector partners. Through completing the sub activities highlighted, we will further advance Gender Equality in the Skilled Trades in the Yukon.
