Published purpose

Through this 16-month project, Yukon Women’s Coalition (YWC) will increase its ability to prevent and address gender-based violence against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQIA+ people with a focus on advancing equity and safety for women and gender diverse people across Yukon. This will be achieved through the implementation of a 2023-2025 strategic plan focused on review of internal governance structure and processes; needs assessment through environmental scanning; the establishment of a communications plan and online presence including engagement with First Nations and broader communities; and bolstering YWC’s leadership in the anti-violence sector through involvement in Together for Safety group, which works to improve regional responses to gender-based violence in partnership with the Whitehorse RCMP and other service organizations. By the end of the project, YWC will have strengthened their capacity, resulting in stronger partnerships across organizations across Yukon to increase leadership capacity across all diversely connected sectors in their membership and prevent and address GBV against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.
