Girls Forward Foundation

Published purpose

This 25-month project will support Girls Forward’s capacity-building in order to advance gender equality. This will allow the organization to further impact thousands of girls across Canada, empowering them through sport, physical activity, and education while providing support and resources to grassroots organizations. This project will focus on the organization's delivery, impact, advocacy, branding and sustainability as a national charity. Key activities will include hiring consultants and experts in the sector to support with governance, fundraising, marketing, and HR policies, strategies and processes; investing in staff training, professional development, and benefits; and bringing in new team members to support the operations growth. With the supplemental funds and 6-month extension provided in early 2026, Girls Forward will build on its initial capacity-building work by operationalizing its fund development strategy (including CRM integration, donor lifecycle setup, and sponsorship/revenue tools), fully activating its national rebrand across digital platforms and revenue-facing materials (including website and case-for-support assets), and finalizing and embedding its evaluation framework through refined measurement tools and knowledge translation resources. These activities will strengthen financial sustainability, organizational infrastructure, and impact measurement, enabling Girls Forward to expand long-term capacity for high-quality, inclusive programming that advances gender equality and empowers girls across Canada through sport, physical activity, and education.
