Association of Early Childhood Educators of Alberta

Published purpose

Through this 32-month project, the Association of Early Childhood Educators of Alberta will build its capacity to advance gender equality. It will address the growing needs of early childhood educators, the majority of whom are women and many who are also racialized. To achieve these goals, AECEA will transition from an operating board to a governance model, fostering sound management and strong governance. The project activities include conducting an organizational assessment and a strategic planning session which will help the Board and staff to clarify strategic and organizational objectives and develop new management and governance strategies and structures. By the project’s conclusion, the organization will have reviewed its HR policies and procedures, and created comprehensive strategies for financial sustainability, memberships and community engagement, as well as communications, advocacy and data management. With the supplemental funds and extension provided in early 2026, the Association of Early Childhood Educators will increase its internal capacity through staffing, the development of a practical, responsive sector toolkit and a policy ask framework. Through this they will further advance gender equality.
