Published purpose

This 26-month capacity-building project will undertake a review of the way in which the National Council of Women of Canada serves all Canadians today and in the future, while remaining true to its values and principles. The project will develop a 5-year strategic plan, focusing on the sustainability of the organization and ensuring its membership is open, accessible, and responsive to the needs of those it serves. The project will hire a consultant to undertake key activities, including capacity building, strategic planning, communications and governance, thereby strengthening the organization. The plan will include an environmental scan and GBA Plus analysis of the sector prior to the development and approval of the strategic plan and related action plans for implementation. Furthermore, a membership plan and strategy will be developed to support membership growth and organizational responsiveness to the needs of its membership, including GBA Plus, undertaking a SWAT analysis, and preparing action plans to implement the strategic plan With the supplemental funds and extension provided in early 2026, the National Council of Women of Canada will advance the implementation of its Strategic Plan through capacity-building workshops, development of a clear implementation roadmap, and targeted member consultations to support sequencing and sustainability. The organization will strengthen member and public outreach by developing and implementing a Communication and Engagement Plan, including completion of the Member Portal and enhanced digital engagement. It will also develop and implement Partnerships and Capacity Building Plans through structured outreach, a Membership Development Action Plan, and orientation for new members and partners. In parallel, the organization will conduct a governance review through continued committee work, member consultation, and the integration of equity, diversity, and inclusion commitments aligned with the Strategic Plan. Through these activities, the organization will further advance gender equality.
