Published purpose

Through this 32-month project, Peers Victoria Resources Society will build its capacity to advance gender equality. It will address the need for the organization to build its capacity to better support BIPOC, migrant, immigrant and newcomer sex workers. The project will include consultations with organizations serving BIPOC, migrant, immigrant and newcomer sex workers, as well as direct consultations with service users. Peers Victoria will also host two events to share knowledge about how to better support BIPOC, immigrant, migrant and newcomer women, and develop a report with findings to disseminate to regional partners and stakeholders. Supplemental funding in October 2024 will be used to expand collaboration with Supporting Women’s Alternatives Network (SWAN) Vancouver to provide additional consultation and support for the project. With the supplemental funds and extension provided in early 2026, Peers Victoria Resources Society will conduct an environmental scan to identify the needs of BIPOC and im/migrant sex workers in areas surrounding Victoria, develop a program manual and update current policies and procedures, and develop a resource list of organizations on Vancouver Island that are safe for BIPOC im/migrant sex workers to access. Through this they will further advance gender equality.
