Published purpose

Through this 30-month project, Girls Incorporated of Durham will help advance women’s representation in leadership and decision-making roles through systemic change. Specifically, the project will address systemic barriers experienced by young girls primarily within the three high priority neighbourhoods across the Durham Region (Whitby, Oshawa, Ajax) where there is a need to provide girls opportunities, experiences, and role models to navigate gender, economic, and social barriers. Girls Incorporated of Durham will do this by forming the project team; conducting background research and community consultations and incorporating findings; approving and implementing the project plan (including facilitating policy changes); delivering leadership and community action programs (internship); evaluating the pilot and celebrating the participant’s experiences. An external evaluator will measure and assess the impact of the systemic change project.
