Published purpose

Over a 24-month period, Women in Urbanism Canada (WIUC) will undertake this project to increase its capacity to advance gender equity in Canadian cities. This will be achieved through strategic planning and development across the areas of governance, human resources, finances, and communications. The key activities include creating strategies, developing policies and procedures, and strengthening internal capacity through training. This project will support the growth of the organization, thereby advancing positive change for more women, girls, and gender-diverse people in communities across Canada. With the supplemental funds and extension provided in early 2026, Women in Urbanism Canada will continue implementing its organizational strategies by operationalizing its Strategic Plan and JEDIIA Strategy, strengthening governance practices and its membership program, and further developing policies, procedures, and tools related to human resources, finances, and communications. The organization will also enhance monitoring and evaluation processes, implement its funding and communications strategies, and improve the accessibility and inclusivity of its activities and communication products. Through these activities, the organization will further advance gender equality.
