Published purpose

Through this 24-month project, Supporting Survivors of Abuse and Brain Injury through Research (SOAR) will build its capacity to advance gender equality for women survivors of gender-based violence and brain injury in Canada. It will address and enhance its governance and human resource practices, communications, and sustainability. To accomplish this, SOAR will revise its human resource and governance policies, build and implement a marketing and communications plan, develop a financial and operational sustainability plan, and create a three-year strategic plan. With the supplemental funds and extension provided in early 2026, Supporting Survivors of Abuse and Brain Injury through Research (SOAR) will drive strategic plan implementation, formalize a lived experience survivor committee, establish an effective national board of directors guided by a full governance policy, and secure strategic partnerships to help build capacity and sustainability. Through this, they will further advance Gender Equality.
