Through this 26-month project, the Canadian Women's Foundation will focus on systems change to advance equality for women in the North, by addressing systemic barriers to women's progress and advancement, and providing access to supports and addressing issues related to equality between women and men in the North, with a strong emphasis on GBV, leadership, climate resilience and disaster management, and community wellness. The project will drive Indigenous-led solutions, build genderresponsive leadership, and enhance climate resilience through community-driven action. Additionally, it will focus on addressing the lack of gender analysis in Northern climate disaster management, strengthening local leadership structures, and fostering sustained Indigenous engagement. Key activities include further distribution of funding to organizations in communities across the North, including in Inuit & Innu communities; Indigenous engagement in the North; knowledge, learning, research and policy activities; and ongoing fundraising and leveraging of partnerships to ensure the sustainability of the initiative. Supplemental funding will increase the amounts available for Further Distribution of Funding, which will allow the project to further deepen its impact in the North.
