Published purpose
The objective of the project is an Indigenous government that provides economic, social, and cultural, educational, employment, and health services to its community members, including the local youth through various community-based initiatives. The community is pursuing its vision of utilizing land and resources in a self-sufficient, sustainable, and vibrant way while becoming resilient and adapting to climate change. The intern will assist Kanaka Bar with the Food Security Initiative as per the Summer Plan 2020. They will be involved in many aspects of gardening, farming and permaculture including but not limited to seeding and transplanting of greenhouse and outdoors, bed preparation, seed saving, processing, irrigation, harvesting, planting of new trees and capacity building. They will also participate in full cycle of the food system from growing to consumption to waste.
