Published purpose
This project supports individuals, institutions, and organizations called agents of change who play key roles in dialogue, reform, and implementation processes related to federal and multilevel governance. The Forum of Federations, an international governance organization, implements this project. It aims to strengthen inclusive, responsive, and effective governance systems in developing countries by enhancing the capacity of those engaged in governance at various levels. The project operates in Official Development Assistance (ODA)-eligible countries, working in both established federations such as Argentina, Brazil, Ethiopia, India, Iraq, Mexico, and Pakistan, and in emerging federal or multilevel contexts such as Jordan, Morocco, Myanmar, Nepal, Yemen, and Tunisia. Project activities include: (1) providing access to comparative knowledge and practical examples on federal and multilevel governance; (2) strengthening the skills and capacity of agents of change to participate effectively in governance processes; and (3) facilitating informed decision-making among governance actors involved in designing and implementing federal and multilevel governance arrangements. The project benefits a broad range of stakeholders, including government institutions at national, subnational, and local levels, political parties, elected officials, and public servants. It also supports civil society organizations such as trade unions, professional associations, youth and women’s rights organizations, journalists, academics, and citizens engaged in governance reform.
