Published purpose

This project supports survivors and victims of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in Israel, including survivors and victims of the October 7, 2023, attack and other groups suffering from secondary trauma including first responders, witnesses, and families of the victims in Israel. Project activities include: (1) expanding comprehensive frontline support services to survivors and victims of sexual violence and to other groups suffering from secondary trauma, including first responders and witnesses. The services include crisis intervention, counseling, advocacy, emotional support groups, information about legal rights and options, and assistance navigating medical and legal systems; (2) providing community outreach and education programs to raise awareness about sexual violence, promote healthy relationships, and prevent sexual assault, and scaling up communications to raise awareness of the existence of available services; (3) training of professionals, including healthcare providers, law enforcement personnel, social service providers, and mental health professionals to improve their ability to respond effectively to incidents of sexual violence; and (4) delivering continued international and national advocacy activities to draw attention to the sexual violence of October 7 and throughout the conflict to create pressure for continued support for survivors and victims of the violence.
