Published purpose

This project aims to ensure migrants' rights and foster sustainable integration into host communities in Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and Peru. Across these countries, the project seeks to enhance the protection, regularization, and socio-economic integration of Venezuelan migrants and refugees and other nationalities in the Latin America region. In Brazil, IOM aims to improve access to regularization and documentation processes for vulnerable migrants, strengthen protection mechanisms and foster long-term integration of migrants into host communities in Acre and Rondônia. In Colombia, IOM aims to develop a comprehensive strategy to ensure the protection of migrants, Colombian returnees and host communities by providing orientation and access to migratory regularization, information on trafficking in persons and gender-based violence (GBV) and supporting the socio-economic integration of migrant women heads of households in targeted communities of Bogotá. In Dominican Republic IOM aims to strengthen capacities to support migrants through the implementation of itinerant migration information hubs, training programs for economic empowerment, and social cohesion activities. In Ecuador, IOM aims to meet the needs of Venezuelan migrants other migrant communities in Ecuador by : (1) providing access to protection services for those vulnerable to violence, exploitation, and abuse, particularly women and girls; (2) assisting with migration regularization processes, especially for unaccompanied and separated children; and (3) promoting sustainable socio-economic integration and job opportunities for migrants, especially women, through IOM´s Enterprise Development Fund (EDF). Finally, in Peru, IOM will strengthen the capacity of CBOs to provide essential services, support migration regularization processes, and foster the socioeconomic integration of migrants and host communities. This project seeks to reach approximately 16,375 migrants, refugees, and host community members in Brazil, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and Peru.
