Published purpose
This project aims to improve approaches for reducing global poverty and improving lives. It focuses on women in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). It seeks to provide evidence-based research and analysis to help strengthen global health systems, improve efficiency, enhance collaboration, and support gender equality, especially for women and vulnerable populations in LMICs. Project activities include: (1) supporting the Center for Global Development’s (CGD) research and analysis on several key issues. This includes diversifying health products manufacturing, the global health financing architecture, women’s leadership and barriers to gender equality within international financial institutions (IFIs), and the link between childcare and women’s economic empowerment; (2) supporting the CGD in developing papers and recommendations to optimize using concessional finance for climate change adaptation in developing countries. It also focuses on the role of multilateral development banks (MDBs) in fragile countries affected by conflict and violence, and strategies to enhance gender equality within the IFIs. It focuses on expanding childcare investments and promoting women's leadership; (3) supporting CGD’s convenings to share analysis, identify, and advance reforms within the global health architecture and the MDB system; and (4) strengthening CGD’s collaboration with traditional and emerging development assistance providers to build a shared understanding of effective development and ensure greater cooperation among providers.
