Published purpose

This project supports activities that respond to the COVID-19 pandemic in Cabo Delgado province in Mozambique. This project focuses on ensuring community engagement and social mobilization, distributing essential commodities, and supporting the Ministry of Health’s coordination efforts in the pandemic response. Project activities include: (1) producing and disseminating COVID-19 prevention material through digital, radio and television programs; (2) supporting the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 hotline; (3) supporting women’s rights networks in target districts to monitor gender-based violence in the COVID-19 context and generate data on its economic and care load impact; (4) procuring and distributing materials for COVID-19 sample collection (such as gloves, cotton swabs, disinfectant, etc.), laboratory reagents and kit accessories, PPE for health care workers, triple packs for transporting COVID-19 samples, and masks for some of the most vulnerable communities in target districts; and (5) supporting costs related to deploying rapid Ministry of Health response teams to Cabo Delgado province to conduct COVID-19 epidemiological surveillance.
