Published purpose
November 2024 - Political instability, conflict and natural disasters have left more than 25 million people across the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in need of humanitarian assistance. Populations face insecurity, malnutrition, and limited access to clean water and adequate sanitation. Also, hunger, displacement and conflict increase the risk of sexual and gender-based violence, especially for the most vulnerable With Global Affairs Canada (GAC)’s support, Médecins du Monde provides a multi-sectoral response targeting an estimated 50 000 IDPs affected by conflict in Nyemba, Kalemie and Nyunzu in the province of Tanganyika. Project activities include: (1) providing emergency primary health and nutrition services to vulnerable populations; (2) providing sexual and reproductive health services, including care for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence; (3) providing psychosocial care; and (4) providing emergency mobile health responses
