Published purpose

This project aims to strengthen Morocco’s leadership role in regional stability and terrorism prevention, in compliance with human rights standards and gender-responsive approaches. The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) implements this project to the benefit of the Training Center for the Gendarmerie Royale’s tactical policing unit (Groupement de Sécurité et d'Intervention de la Gendarmerie Royale (GSIGR)) located in Benslimane, Morocco. Project activities include: (1) constructing a covered simunition close-quarter battlefield (CQB) and a monitoring room supplied with information and communication technologies (ICT) equipment. This is to strengthen monitoring, data analysis, and real-time communication capacities; (2) building a Simulator Facility to house a firearms simulator for training purposes; (3) ensuring optimal and safe use of training facilities and equipment; (4) reinforcing the knowledge and training capacities of Gendarmerie Royale’s leadership; and (5) reinforcing integration and understanding of women’s empowerment in the security sector, rule of law, and human rights compliance.
