Published purpose

The project aims to restore resilient, inclusive and sustainable agricultural livelihoods for communities affected by typhoon Yagi and subsequent storms in Lao Cai province, in the Northern Highlands of Vietnam, with a particular focus on ethnic minority women. The project supports the recovery of agricultural livelihoods by addressing immediate needs while fostering long-term resilience to future shocks and risks. It places women and ethnic minority communities at the centre of recovery efforts by enhancing their capacities and promoting their meaningful participation and leadership in decision-making processes. Project activities include: (1) providing agricultural inputs to affected households through a needs-based voucher system; (2) delivering technical assistance and training to local communities and grassroots authorities to strengthen disaster risk management capacities; (3) providing training for women and other relevant stakeholders on climate-smart agricultural practices. The project is expected to reach up to 7,300 households with agricultural input packages; 2,400 households with tree seedlings; 6,000 people through climate-smart agriculture training, and 110 women through specialized climate-smart nursery management.
