Published purpose
March 2025 – The humanitarian situation in Syria continues to deteriorate due to years of civil war, resulting in displacement, severe protection risks and restricted humanitarian access despite the recent fall of the Assad regime. In Lebanon, the recent conflict between Israel and Hezbollah led to severe displacement and exacerbated the worsening socio-economic crisis threatening the ability of most of its population to meet basic needs. According to the United Nations, an estimated 16.5 million people need humanitarian assistance in Syria, with over 7 million internally displaced persons. In Lebanon, 3.7 million people require humanitarian assistance. With GAC’s support, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) emergency response in Lebanon and Syria contributes to meeting Palestinian refugees’ needs. Project activities include: providing emergency assistance, including food, healthcare, water, education and protection services to meet the basic needs of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and Syria.
