Published purpose
The project aims to support the government of Angola’s efforts to create regional stability in Sub Saharan Africa through conflict resolution, and mediation. It is framed by the Luanda peace process, an Angolan initiative to establish and implement sustained peace between the governments of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda. The project aims also to establish a centre of excellence for peace and reconciliation. An initiative housed with the Angolan Ministry of External Relations to support peace building and conflict resolution, and provide administrative, logistical, and advisory support for mediation dialogues and verification missions of peace agreements. These efforts aim to strengthen the role of the African Union champion of peace and reconciliation which is held by Angolan president João Lourenço.
