Published purpose

The International Academy for Counterterrorism (AILCT) is a training center for sub-Saharan Africa that promotes the exchange of best practices, the mutual development of knowledge among stakeholders, and the development of local and regional capabilities in the fight against terrorism. Located in Jacqueville, Côte d’Ivoire, the Academy hosts officers and instructors from all regions of the world, primarily for the benefit of West African countries. Canadian support seeks to enable the implementation of more targeted and specialized training programs and initiatives. Project activities include: (1) training for members of special forces and specialized response units on security and terrorism prevention and counterterrorism; (2) providing support for the Academy’s operations; and (3) procuring equipment and supplies necessary to conduct the training activities provided by the AILCT.
