Published purpose

This project aims to achieve equitable, quality education for girls and boys, particularly the poorest and most vulnerable in developing countries, as well as in conflict, crisis-affected and humanitarian settings. This project supports the implementation of the goals and objectives described in UNGEI’s Strategic Directions 2018-2023 document. As a leader in gender equality and education, UNGEI works to increase awareness and participation of decision-makers in gender-responsive education sector planning, and increase the data available to support the need for gender-responsive quality education in low-income countries. Project activities include: (1) organizing online and in-person learning events; (2) engaging in participatory institutional capacity gender reviews of selected ministries of education, leading to development and sharing of tools, information, models and other evidence-based approaches to gender-responsive education through online and other channels; (3) influencing national education actors to improve their delivery of gender-responsive education through advocacy and capacity building in education governance and leadership; and (4) increasing access to evidence-based approaches to strengthen gender-responsive education systems, particularly for crisis- and conflict affected, fragile and humanitarian settings.
