Published purpose

This grant represents Canada's support to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) to maintain and restore land and soil productivity, and to mitigate the effects of drought. The UNCCD Secretariat promotes cooperation between developed and developing countries, particularly around knowledge and technology transfer for sustainable land management. The expected intermediate outcomes for this project include: increased international awareness of the importance of addressing desertification/land degradation and drought; greater advocacy efforts to have the Convention recognized as the global focal point for desertification/land degradation and drought.
