Published purpose
The project aims to benefit more than 17,000 people in rural districts along Mozambique's North-South Gaza/Maputo corridor and improve the economic empowerment of 2,500 women, especially young women members of agricultural associations affiliated with the União Nacional de Camponeses (UNAC). Project activities include: (1) providing training for women, especially young women, on climate-smart agro-food production, decision-making in sexual and reproductive health and rights, economic resource management, literacy and self-esteem; (2) establishing a competitive and sustainable cooperative enterprise with a gender-sensitive business plan and sound cooperative governance practices; (3) delivering products and services for women, especially young women, that promote engagement in high value-added agricultural activities; and (4) training of UNAC, Government of Mozambique and non-governmental organization partners to replicate a cooperative model of sound governance that reduces the vulnerability of women, especially young women, through economic empowerment.
