Published purpose

This project works to enhance the human rights of women and girls through media development in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Tunisia, and the Syrian diaspora in Turkey. Project activities include: (1) providing training/mentoring to journalists, journalism students and media professionals (women and men) on gender sensitive reporting, through human rights journalism; (2) providing training/mentoring to managers (women and men) on best practices to achieve/manage gender balanced newsrooms, which support human rights reporting and gender equality; and (3) providing training/mentoring to women’s human rights organizations on media relations, engagement and collaboration. The project expects to target 1,720 journalists, journalism students, and media managers (of which 50% women), and 320 civil society representatives (of which 50% are women). The project’s media partners also expect to reach a targeted audience of 1.5 million people.
