Published purpose
This project helps member states of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) develop a national strategic trade policy in line with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1540 (UNSCR 1540), which aims to prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their delivery systems by non-state actors. Project activities include: (1) developing national strategic trade control lists consistent with UNSCR 1540; (2) drafting comprehensive national laws on strategic trade in compliance with UNSCR 1540; (3) designing targeted training modules for customs officials to identify chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear materials in Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago; and (4) establishing ‘incident command systems’ to coordinate national identification and whole-of-government responses to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats
