Published purpose

This project aims to strengthen Peru’s capacity to detect and deter the smuggling of nuclear and other radioactive material. Project activities include: (1) providing radiation detection equipment, including mobile detection vehicle systems and handheld detectors to various stakeholders. This includes Peru's National Customs Superintendency, the Peruvian Army, the Peruvian National Police and other stakeholder agencies; (2) delivering operational and maintenance training to Peruvian personnel; and (3) assisting Peruvian stakeholder agencies with developing and implementing standard operating procedures in response to security incidents involving nuclear or radiological materials.
