Published purpose
This project aims to prevent trafficking of indigenous people, with a special emphasis on women and girls, in Mexico. The project activities include: (1) developing gender-sensitive training materials and specialized curricula based on the selected indigenous community’s needs; (2) training local authorities to detect and combat trafficking in persons; (3) organizing roundtables with participation of key actors of the pilot community, including women and women’s organizations, to develop an awareness raising campaign; and (4) organizing roundtables and workshops to increase the interaction among local authorities, nongovernmental organizations, and community leaders.
