Published purpose

This project aims to reduce inequalities between men and women in Ukraine, particularly in contexts where they face multiple forms of discrimination. It focuses on enhancing the delivery of gender-responsive services to all citizens by mainstreaming gender equality and women’s empowerment in policy making, implementation, monitoring and reporting within national, regional and local governments. Project activities include: (1) developing specific policies, tools, processes and practices to implement the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women; (2) coordinating and facilitating efforts to implement the decentralization reform, a critical and comprehensive reform delivering national gender equality priorities at all levels of government. The project aims to do so in collaboration with the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing, local authorities, amalgamated territorial communities, women’s groups and civil society organizations; (3) implementing gender-sensitive actions to ensure an effective response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences; and (4) supporting partners from the national mechanism for gender equality, central and local authorities, and women’s organizations to ensure a gender-sensitive response to humanitarian and security crises caused by the Russian invasion.
