Published purpose

Global refugee resettlement needs have doubled in recent years. For 2020, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has identified over 1.44 million refugees in need of resettlement around the world. The UNHCR is strengthening its response to such needs through the development and implementation of a Three-year Strategy on Resettlement and Complementary Pathways, as foreseen in the Global Compact on Refugees. With the support of Canada and other donors, the project helps support UNHCR global resettlement operations and the implementation of the Three-year Strategy on Resettlement and Complementary Pathways. The primary activity is providing support to the UNHCR to increase the agency’s capacity to conduct assessments and referrals of refugees for third country resettlement.
