Published purpose

This project aims to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of policies and responses for combatting cybercrime and reducing cybercriminal impunity, including at the United Nations (UN), through more informed contributions from civil society actors. Project activities include: (1) conducting five online regional meetings for diverse groups of civil society organizations to enrich the project with regional perspectives on questions related to Information and Communication Technologies for criminal purposes; (2) publishing an open-access special issue of the Journal of Cyber Policy exploring the different aspects of the cybercrime debate reflecting on the UN processes; (3) conducting four meetings in parallel to the official UN negotiation meetings on cybercrime starting in 2021; and (4) producing a project brief published online identifying key observations for civil society organizations and states’ representatives for follow-up work in civil society engagement in global cybercrime policies debates. The project benefits civil society organizations and men and women in Africa, Europe, American states, ASEAN member states and Arab countries.
