Published purpose
This project aims to respond to the proliferation of small arms, light weapons and explosive ordnance in Central Sahel and Coastal West Africa. Working in five countries, the main activities of the project are to: (1) deliver explosive ordinance risk education sessions to people affected by armed violence in border regions; (2) provide weapons and ammunitions management training to build the capacity of security sector agencies; (3) support local authorities to implement best practices in the management of small arms and light weapons; and (4) provide technical and institutional support to National Commissions to collaborate regionally to collectively address risks related to small arms and light weapons.
