The Institute of Population and Public Health (IPPH) will fund applications that are determined to be relevant to the mandate and research priority areas of CIHR-IPPH as described below: Healthy Cities: Applications must be aligned with CIHR’s Healthy Cities Research Initiative (HCRI) and be focused on population health intervention research and/or implementation science as it relates to urban environments. Equitable AI: Applications must be aligned with IPPH’s Equitable AI Initiative and focused on exploring the use of artificial intelligence (AI) approaches or development of AI tools, to address public health challenges and promote health equity (*). IPPH is particularly interested in projects exploring the compounding influences of AI on public health at the intersections of various social determinants of health, including but not limited to sex and gender, race, ethnicity, Indigenous identity, and disability. Global Health Policy: Applications must be focused on research areas within the mandate of IPPH and must be aligned with CIHR’s definition of global health and with the Canadian Coalition for Global Health Research’s Principles for Global Health Research. * Health Equity: The term ‘health equity’ is used to refer to the belief that “all people can reach their full health potential and should not be disadvantaged from attaining it because of their race, ethnicity, gender, age, social class, language and minority status, socio-economic status, or other socially-determined circumstance.”
