Published purpose
This project aims to enhance biodiversity and improve livelihoods through tackling plastic pollution in biodiversity hotspots. The project seeks to build upon existing multi-stakeholder efforts to enhance biodiversity and improve livelihoods and aims to benefit 9 countries in Africa (Nigeria), Latin America (Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Peru), and South-East Asia (Indonesia, the Philippines and Viet Nam). Project activities include: (1) developing and delivering national action roadmaps, biodiversity assessments and context assessments to measure plastic waste and impact on biodiversity and gender; (2) conducting engagement activities to inform both public and private sectors on plastic initiatives in target countries; and (3) organizing outreach events to ensure that plastics-related policies receive the endorsement of governments and non-governmental organizations focused on biodiversity and gender issues in the target countries..
