Published purpose
This project aims to increase trust in Caribbean police by individuals and communities in at least five CARICOM Member States by 2028. In order to increase police effectiveness, legitimacy and public trust, activities will include: (1) updating police policies and external oversight frameworks through consultation with regional and national stakeholders; (2) developing key policies including on ethical technology use, use of force, and investigative interviewing, aligned with the international human rights legal framework and standards, and focusing on a gender-sensitive, trauma-informed and intersectional approaches; (3) training of select police forces; and (4) supporting the development of transformative police leadership emphasizing integrity, diversity, occupational health, and organizational justice.
