Published purpose

June 2026 - Two powerful earthquakes struck north-central Venezuela in rapid succession, causing widespread devastation across Caracas, La Guaira, and surrounding states. The disaster has resulted in significant loss of life, extensive damage to homes, critical infrastructure, and essential services, while displacing thousands of people. With funding from Global Affairs Canada, the International Rescue Committee will provide urgent health, protection, as well as water, sanitation and hygiene services to those affected by the earthquakes. Project activities include: (1) facilitating access to essential medical supplies and equipment for health facilities; (2) delivering primary health services; (3) providing protection services including psychosocial support; (4) strengthening community-based protection and referral systems; and (5) supporting water, sanitation and hygiene needs.
