Published purpose

This project is part of the 2022 United Nations-coordinated Humanitarian Response Plan for West Bank and Gaza and responds to the Ministerial priority of humanitarian action to reach the poorest and most vulnerable. Projects under this appeal help to reduce the vulnerability of Palestinians, especially women and children, affected by the ongoing crisis. Specifically, this project aims to respond to the emergency food assistance needs of food insecure Palestinians. Activities include: distribution of in-kind food assistance to vulnerable and food insecure herder households, including female-headed households; provision of electronic food vouchers to food insecure households in urban areas, which supports the local economy and has a positive impact on household food consumption, dietary diversity, and autonomy to make food choices; and, support nutrition related programming to empower women and improve nutritional health and knowledge. This project provides support for the Senior Humanitarian Civil Military Affairs Advisor to engage in dialogue with respect to humanitarian civil-military relations, and establishes the necessary links with senior military officers and international military forces to sensitize military commanders on humanitarian needs, protection of civilians and humanitarian access.
