Published purpose

This project aims to support the security of Jordan by strengthening its borders against the entry of criminals and terrorists. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) will provide training and construct a new point of entry building. Border authorities will be better equipped to counter transitional organized crime and terrorism at border entry points while increasing efficiency of cross-border passenger and commercial traffic. Project activities include: (1) construction of a new border point of entry; (2) delivery of training courses for border authorities on stopping illicit cross-border activities and the role of frontline officers in combatting it, using international best practices and victim-sensitive and rights-based approaches in border management; and (3) delivery of a train-the-trainer program for border authorities.
