A team of Canadian scientists and engineers, including Nobel Laureate Art McDonald, are part of an international team that collaborated with Canadian industry to develop a robust, easy-to-manufacture ventilator that was certified and manufactured with off-the-shelf parts from established supply chains. The Mechanical Ventilator Milano provides a controlled supply of oxygen and air to the most severe adult COVID-19 patients. Through this project, the international team has unused research funds provided by independent donors that they wish to commit towards research into prevention or response to Covid-19 or similar future pandemics. The McDonald Ventilator Research Fund, in partnership with Queen’s University will provide funding for applications that are relevant to: o Preventing or responding to COVID-19 or similar future pandemics
