Published purpose

This project provides funding to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to demonstrate borehole disposal systems in Ghana and Malaysia as a safe, secure and cost-effective method to eliminate high activity disused sealed radioactive sources. Project activities include: (1) designing, developing and constructing borehole disposal systems; (2) providing support to national regulators regarding licensing, monitoring and inspection; and (3) providing support to national operators regarding licensing, site selection, construction and operation.
