Published purpose
This project aims to develop a genetic evaluation system for the Canadian mink industry, enhancing economic efficiency, sustainability, and genetic selection practices. By implementing Best Linear Unbiased Prediction (BLUP) models, CCSI will generate Estimated Breeding Values (EBVs) for key traits such as growth, litter size, and disease resistance. This initiative will establish data collection standards, genetic evaluation pipelines, and selection guidelines to modernize mink breeding practices.
