Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) is a chronic, complex, multisystem illness associated with immunological, neurological, autonomic and energy metabolism dysfunction, and symptoms can include debilitating fatigue, post-exertional malaise, unrefreshing sleep, cognitive impairment and orthostatic intolerance. Sex and gender-related factors influence the risk, diagnosis, severity, and consequences of ME, with women disproportionately more likely to be affected. As the pathophysiology of ME is not fully understood, there is no definitive diagnostic test, and people living with ME experience stigma within the healthcare system. This Priority Announcement aims to generate new knowledge about the etiology, diagnosis and treatment of ME. The CIHR Institute of Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis (CIHR-IMHA), in partnership with the CIHR Institute of Gender and Health (CIHR-IGH) and CIHR Institute of Infection and Immunity (CIHR-III), will fund applications that are determined relevant to the following research area: • Myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME; also known as chronic fatigue syndrome or ME/CFS)
