Published purpose
This project is part of Global Affairs Canada’s International Youth Internship Program (IYIP), funded by the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy. The IYIP is designed to offer Canadian post-secondary graduates the opportunity to gain professional experience in international development. As part of the Young Lawyers International Program, the Canadian Bar Association sends 128 interns to 10 countries. They acquire transferable employment skills, primarily through activities such as conducting legal research and analysis, writing, managing client relations, and liaising with justice sector stakeholders. The young interns also participate in public education and advocacy activities such as the promotion of human rights, either through policy advocacy for human rights and the rule of law, or the provision of legal services to local populations, including the most vulnerable.
