Published purpose

Smart Ice technology has proven to be beneficial for both societal as well as commercial applications in increasing the safety of on ice travel as the ice conditions continue to deteriorate due to rapid climate change. It is billed as the world's first climate change adaptation tool. It integrates traditional Inuit knowledge of the sea ice with advanced data acquisition and remote monitoring technology. There is interest internationally for the application of this technology and therefore has the potential of market expansion beyond Canadian borders.
