Published purpose
This project is part of Global Affairs Canada’s International Youth Internship Program (IYIP), funded by the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy. The IYIP is designed to offer Canadian post-secondary graduates the opportunity to gain professional experience in international development. As part of its Better Future for Children project, L’AMIE is sending 104 interns to five countries. This project aims to strengthen the formal and informal education of children and youth (boys and girls) in order to improve their quality of life. Project activities include: setting up interactive computer programs for learning to read and write; developing and organizing educational games in mathematics, chemistry and physics; developing educational materials made from recycled items for learning to read and write; preparing and facilitating workshops to raise awareness of violence and bullying through the arts; and preparing and facilitating environmental awareness workshops in families and communities on, among other things, recycling and waste reclamation.
