Published purpose

(20STDPK16) Today we are at the birth of an emerging spinoff market of Commercial On-Orbit Servicing (OOS). MDA's vision is to penetrate this market by positioning itself to be a global leader in OOS robotics solutions for customers' space servicing vehicles. As part of the development of this system, MDA has identified the arm joint as a key enabler because it will provide performance to enable dexterous robotic servicing at a far lower recurring price. In this project, to raise joint technology from TRL 4 to TRL 6, MDA will: • Perform preliminary design of flight joint • Build & test an Engineering Model in simulated operational environments, including thermal, vacuum, etc. The successful robotic arm technology will potentially create a new commercial product base for Canada in robotics.
