Published purpose

(20STDPK19) The ultra-wideband satellite modem envisioned by this project extends what is possible for providing extremely high throughput data services for next generation extremely high data rate satellite systems. This project investigates transmitting and receiving an extremely wide satellite signal with a bandwidth up to 2.5 GHz. The design will use the latest in FPGA and processing technology utilizing embedded processors and high-speed ADC/DACs to offer flexible single and multi-channel operation over the supported bandwidth. Providing flexibility will enable operators to utilize a greater portion of their assigned spectrum from a single unit to offer services and realize revenues, while reducing the amount of equipment required. This technology development will directly benefit Canadian satellite operators and service providers to offer high-speed internet services anywhere in Canada.
