Published purpose
(20STDPN03) A backlog of small satellites awaiting launch currently exists and forces long wait times before satellite operators can launch their product. SpaceRyde aims to address this issue by providing low-cost on-demand launch services with a balloon/rocket launch system. The rocket is launched from a stratospheric balloon at the edge of the atmosphere. In the absence of dense atmospheric layers, the rocket operates at its peak efficiency, making small satellite launches cost-efficient. This project includes the development of an extremely light nozzle for SpaceRyde's rocket, and is a major step towards achieving SpaceRyde's goal of developing the most-efficient system for launching small satellites to Low Earth Orbit. SpaceRyde's launch system, once developed, will forward the interest of Canadians, permitting the construction of satellite constellations for providing internet service to remote locations, monitoring climate change, and forwarding scientific advancements. Additionally, it will spark the growth of space industry in Canada by creating the first Canadian space launch service.
