Published purpose
The Research component of the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) Class Grant and Contribution Program to support Research, Awareness and Learning in Space Science and Technology provides financial support to organizations to conduct space related research and development in priority areas. It will support targeted knowledge development and innovation to sustain and enhance the Canadian capacity to use space to address national needs and priorities in the future. More specifically, this project entitled ""Processor-in-the-Loop Simulation of Spacecraft Platforms"" has the objective to develop an as-generic-as-possible PIL Simulation environment for V&V of spacecraft embedded software and electronics that interfaces with high fidelity simulation models of spacecraft dynamics and environment as well as the Integrated Test and Operations System (ITOS) software. Achieving this goal will bridge the gap between stand-alone EM of a spacecraft (e.g., FlatSat EM of NEOSSat) and a high-fidelity, operational spacecraft mission simulator (e.g., NEOSSatSim developed based on RSS-GeMS libraries). This essentially enables end-to-end, high-fidelity PIL simulation of spacecraft platforms.
